It looks like the days for single core processors are coming to an end as MediaTek has given a new SoC which will bring dual core processing in an entry level smartphone.
For those who don't know what SoC is, It is System On A Chip, The new SoC will bring dual-core Cortex-A7 CPUs which will be clocked at 1.2 Ghz, And will have HSPA+ connectivity, WiFi, bluetooth, GPS as well as FM radio. Support for the Chinese TD-SCDMA is also on board.
The SoC will also support a 5 MP camera and the ability to shoot video at 720p, And with displays with up to qHD resolution (960 x 540). All in all the new SoC by MediaTek is quite an improvement as compared with the current entry level SoC.
