According to a post on Android's Google+ page, HTC One Google Play edition and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play have started getting an update to Android 4.4!
HTC posted the Android 4.4 KitKat kernel source and framework files for the HTC One Google Play Edition, which means an official OTA update is now available and we will soon be receiving Android KitKat 4.4 update for these devices soon.

One of the user on XDA Developers has also confirmed that he received the update in the safe way.
The update to Android 4.4 brings following new features.
- Improved UI.
- The merging of your MMS and SMS messages on Hangouts
- Support for closed captioning
- Ability to remotely wipe your phone with Android Device Manager
- An improved camera app.
- Longer battery life and much more.
