Android takes over the World - Android share grows to 79% in 2013

2013 was the strongest year for smartphones sales in which more than 990 million units shipped. According to the analytic report the Android takes over the World, as Google's mobile OS now holds 79% of the smartphone market.
 
iOS' annual growth stands at 13% with 153.4 million smartphones were shipped last year. That's much lower than Android. Microsoft is also not at favorable position with the analytic report of last year and according to prediction it might not improve on its numbers in the near future either.

This means that Android shipped four times more smartphones than Apple and Microsoft combined which means that nearly every 4 out of 5 phones sold in 2013 is running some version of Android.

But time has changed and it 2014 now and there are so many competitors has came into existence such as Ubuntu Touch, Firefox OS and Tizen. Therefore, the analyst company predicts that Android growth is going to slow down in 2014.
