New octa core And quadcore processors by Qualcomm

'The stronger, the better', this is what Qualcomm has been doing since it was first came into being. This time it has launched two new breed of processors, the Snapdragon 615 and snapdragon 610 64 bit processors. The Snapdragon 615 will be an eight core ARM Cortex A53 processor and every core will be of 64 bit. Following the lead will be Snapdragon 610 which will be a quad core 64 processor.

Both the SoC processors will have Adreno 405 GPUs and will support LTE Cat 4. Another feature will be that the chips will have 3G technologies integration including HSPA+ upto 42Mbps, CDMA and TD-SCDMA.

"Qualcomm Technologies is redefining the user experience for high-end mobile devices by amassing the unparalleled trilogy of an industry-leading LTE modem, 64-bit multicore processing, and superior multimedia. 64-bit processing capabilities are now an industry requirement for this tier, and we are meeting our customers’ needs with both octa- and quad-core configurations, as well as bringing our superior Adreno 405 graphics and powerful suite of connectivity technologies to the Snapdragon 600 family of chipsets," declared Murthy Renduchintala, executive vice president of Qualcomm Technologies."

According to Qualcomm, the first commercial devices using the new Snapdragon 610 and 615 processors will be available in the fourth quarter of this year - hence later than devices using the more powerful Snapdragon 801.
