Well this was eventually going to happen as Android and iOS have become the biggest mobile operating systems. While details are scarce at the moment what we can confirm is that Blackberry just dropped a bomb at BBlive: Blackberry messenger is coming to iOS and Android "This Summer" as a standalone application. Finally after years of rumors, the company is finally taking a plunge and making its most popular app multi-platform. About time.
The app will be released initially with support for 'messaging and groups' though additional support for 'voice, screen share and [...] channels' will come later. It will be compatible with Android version 4.0+ and will be available for free.
Well BBM coming to Android is big deal itself, But we believe it may be a little late to the party as apps like Viber, Whatsapp and other applications like that have already saturated the market. It could have beneficial for Blackberry a year or two ago. Now they have to fight tooth and nail just to resurrect its former BBM user database.
